Saving Clooz 3 database files in other than the default location will not work with Win 7 or Vista. The user would get an access denied error. User's can not save Clooz 3 files anywhere they please as was done in XP. Our recommended directory is the one the installation creates by default: My Documents\Clooz Data.
Clooz 3 maintains a list of the last four database files opened at the bottom of the "File" menu. These four databases can be opened by simply clicking on the link. However, if you have moved the file to a different directory folder, the link is now invalid. Any database that has been moved must first be opened in the normal "Open Database" method to refresh the link and provide a working quick link in the "File" menu.
Clooz allows you to directly import individual and source information from the latest versions of Legacy Family Tree 7.5, RootsMagic, and The Master Genealogist data files. Data developed in Clooz can be directly exported back to Legacy 7.5. Data from other programs can be imported using GEDCOM files. In each case, you are able to control the selection of which people should be imported from the other file. Two Clooz databases can be merged into a new, consolidated file.
Clooz currently supports the export of People and Source information directly into Legacy Family Tree databases. This will be expanded in future versions to include document/event data as well as support export to other family tree program databases and GEDCOM files. It also currently supports the export of reports generated by Clooz to Adobe PDF, Rich Text Format (rtf), text, or Microsoft Excel files.
There are two "description" areas in the linked file field. The description field to the left of the "File Path/URL" field is for easy reference when viewing a template. This description should simply describe the content of the posted URL or file link. At the bottom of the display area is a Tab labeled "Description". Information entered in this Tab is the information that displays in the summary grid area.
The Clooz license allows a registered user to install the program on more than one computer owned by that user. Laptop owners willl be able to take their databases with them to libraries and archives to avoid duplicate research.
